Bob Mansfield, Senior Vice President of Mac Hardware Engineering at Apple Inc., was announced to be retiring by Apple's Press Release. Bob Mansfield has worked for Apple for over 20 years and has become an iconic part of the company's image and product line. In their announcement, Apple said the following:
“Bob has been an instrumental part of our executive team, leading the hardware engineering organization and overseeing the team that has delivered dozens of breakthrough products over the years,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. – Apple Press Info
Bob Mansfield has worked on iconic marvels of Apple such as the all-in-one iMac desktop computers, the ultra thin computer notebook the Macbook Air and many other products that have come to define Apple as an innovative computer company. Bob is being replaced by Dan Riccio who was the VP of iPad Hardware Engineering and has had time at Apple since before the very first iPad was released.
We wish Dan Riccio a smooth transaction into his new position at Apple and wish Bob Mansfield luck in his future endeavors. It truly is never easy to see an iconic figure leave a tech company.
